*The Moving Forward Network are migrating to the in October 2024.*
The Moving Forward Network (MFN) intends to transform the global trade system by supporting the organizing, advocacy, education, and research efforts of partners around the United States toward improving public health, quality of life, environmental integrity, labor conditions, and environmental justice.
As a project of an academically-based research and action center, MFN serves as a vehicle for building knowledge and ensuring that science and community knowledge are integral to public policy and planning debates and decision-making.
The MFN builds the capacity of network participants working to improve freight communities in the areas of environmental justice, public health, quality of life, the environment, and labor. The Network does this by facilitating information sharing, sharing advocacy tools, funding research on emerging issues, peer to peer training, and facilitating regional and national workshops to unite network participants and attract new allies. The Network also creates national campaigns and educational initiatives on policies, undertaking outreach to new partners, and developing international links.
The MFN efforts support communities across the nation that are negatively impacted by the global trade system and industrial pollution to become healthy, sustainable places, including healthy workplaces, communities and environments, by using the accumulated power acquired from the projects skills share, tools, resources and capacity building to reduce and ultimately eliminating those negative impacts.
