The De Mandel Aquatics Center, McKinnon Family Tennis Center and Robinson Family Terrace benefit our athletes, the campus and the community as a whole.
Designed by the nationally recognized architectural firm of Moule & Polyzoides and landscaped by award-winning Van Atta Associates, Occidental鈥檚 new 58,000 square-foot complex makes it possible for our swimming, diving, water polo and tennis teams to train and compete in facilities that meet NCAA and conference standards.
Building a Home Team Advantage
By bringing the pool and tennis courts up to NCAA and SCIAC standards, the complex represents a homecoming in a very real way: the Tigers are now able to host conference games and meets more often.
Enhancing the Campus
Designed to blend seamlessly with Jack Kemp Stadium, the new athletic complex replaces parking lots with facilities that honor the historic design legacy of Myron Hunt and Beatrix Farrand.
Serving the Community
鈥淚 see the pool as a place where lifelong friendships are created and forged,鈥 says trustee Bill Davis 鈥80, a swimming and water polo standout as a student. 鈥淣ot just for competitive teams, but for people who are lap swimmers or just hanging out by the pool鈥揳 place where people convene and relationships emerge. It will improve the quality of life for a large number of students.鈥
We are grateful to our many generous supporters for bringing this long-awaited project to completion and for helping us build new, beautiful facilities for our student-athletes and the greater 麻豆频道community.
