A printmaking workshop that is part of a series of free art-making workshops for all ages, inspired by the Invisibility: Powers and Perils exhibition.
OXY ARTS, 4757 York Blvd. LA CA 90042
Join us for the 1st workshop of a 3-part free art-making workshop series. In the series, we will be creating projects inspired by our current exhibition, Invisibility: Powers & Perils, curated by Yael Lipschutz and presented in collaboration with Getty's PST ART: Art & Science Collide. The exhibit explores how both invisibility and hypervisibility impact privacy, history, and systems of knowledge on a social, environmental and cosmic level. The exhibiting artists, scientists and activists ask us to consider the dangers and complexities of how visibility functions in the world and cosmos.
Workshop #1: Print-Make Patterns
In this workshop, we will learn the lino-cut method of printmaking. Inspired by artist Juergen Mayer H.'s Data Protection Pattern Wallpaper, we will use repetition to create patterns on fabric with our prints. Feel free to bring your own clothing you would like to embellish with lino-cut prints, or come use our provided T-shirts and tote bags. As our resources are limited, we encourage you to bring any old clothing that yourself or another participant might use for this project!
This is part of a FREE event series and all supplies are provided by OXY ARTS. No registration required.
Workshop #2: Bleach Dye, Oct. 24
Workshop #3: Watercolor & Textiles, Nov. 14
