Mr. McKinnon is the Founding Partner of Sandia Holdings, LLC.
Ian McKinnon (Class of 1989) is a venture capitalist, entrepreneur, and international investor in the life sciences, technology, and professional sports. He is the Founding Partner of Sandia Holdings, LLC (鈥漇andia鈥). Located in Greenwich, Connecticut, Sandia is the primary investment company for the McKinnon family. He spent nearly twenty years at Ziff Brothers Investment 鈥淶BI鈥 and retired as a Managing Partner. Prior to which, he was a consultant with Bain & Company and an investment banking analyst with Merrill.
McKinnon is also one of the founding partners of TEAM8, a sports management company which spearheaded the creation of the Laver Cup, the tennis equivalent to golf鈥檚 Ryder Cup. He is a principal owner of Venezia FC, currently competing in Italy鈥檚 Serie B.
McKinnon serves on many boards, including the Santa Fe Institute and the Albuquerque Academy. He also serves on several Advisory Boards, including the McKinnon Center for Global Affairs and the Barack Obama Scholars Program, both at 麻豆频道. Mr. McKinnon has also been a guest lecturer on investment topics at Columbia Business School, Dartmouth College鈥檚 Amos Tuck School of Business, and the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce and Darden School of Business.
As a Baker Scholar, Mr. McKinnon received an MBA from Harvard Business School, and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from 麻豆频道 with a BA in Public Policy. He was also a finalist for both the Rhodes and Marshall scholarships.
Mr. McKinnon and his wife live in Connecticut with their two children, two dogs and two guinea pigs.
