Tsung Chi teaches courses in comparative politics, East Asian politics, Chinese politics, and research methodology.

His research interests include democratization in China and Taiwan, China-Taiwan relations, and Asian-American politics. In 2006-07, he was a visiting scholar at Stanford's Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center, focusing on Taiwan's democratization. His most recent publication is East Asian Americans and Political Participation (2005). He is working on a book that compares East Asian politics. Many media outlets have interviewed him, including the New York Times, as well as Chinese language newspapers and television and radio stations.
